Women Changing Science

The conference "Women Who are Changing Science - Driving Bold Research in Canada and Croatia" was held September 14 at the Mediterranean Institute for Life Research.

Six inspiring women scientists (three Canadian and three Croatian), whose ground-breaking research contributed to the advancement of scientific excellence in Canada and Croatia, shared their stories with a large audience:

Prof. Brenda Andrews (Department of Molecular Genetics and Donnelly Centre - Canada Research Chair in Systems Genetics & Cell Biology, University of Toronto, Canada)

Prof. Morag Park (Department of Biochemistry and Director, Rosalind and Morris Goodman Cancer Centre, McGill University, Montreal, Canada)

Prof. Lynne-Marie Postovit (Department Head, Biomedical and Molecular Sciences, Queen's University, Kingston, Canada)

Prof. Iva Tolić, Head of the Cell Biophysics Laboratory, Department of Molecular Biology, Ruđer Bošković Institute, Croatia

Prof. Ivana Novak Nakir, Department of Immunology and Medical Genetics, School of Medicine, University of Split, Croatia

Prof. Vernesa Smolčić, Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, Croatia

The conference emphasizes the role of inclusive science in building a sustainable future through science, technology and innovation, and is also an opportunity to connect scientists from Canada and Croatia, to develop significant and lasting research partnerships, to introduce the private sector to the excellence of scientific research work in Canada and Croatia, as well as to identify challenges and opportunities for women in science in general.
