University of Split’s Faculty of Law celebrated its day

Faculty of Law, University of Split, was established April 20, 1961, which means that this year we are celebrating 61 years of its operation. Establishing University of Split’s Faculty of Law revived the rich tradition of legal studies and practicing law in our homeland’s Mediterranean areas. This opened up the space necessary for igniting creativity that was always the mark of this area’s intellectual elite.

Opening study of law in Split closed a noticeable gap, or lack of such studies in-for a large area of Croatia and areas that naturally gravitate towards it. This created conditions that enabled the young population from these areas to find themselves in the study of law.

The most important role of University of Split’s Faculty of Law for more than six decades has been educating lawyers. After graduating, many generations of talented students met the growing needs of our city, the region and entire Croatia has for judges, lawyers, administrative and business officials, and their success in performing these functions confirmed Split Faculty of Law’s quality of programs and teaching methods.
