University of Split ranked in the field of medicine in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023

At the Senate session held March 30, prof. Dragan Ljutić Ph.D., University of Split’s rector, informed Senate members that, according to the new ranking of best world universities, regarding excellence in specific fields or disciplines of study for the year - QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023, University of Split is ranked in the field of medicine with position in the category 651-680th place out of over 1200 institutions included in the ranking.

This ranking grades universities according to quality of their research, teaching and engagement with employers in certain academic fields.

QS by Subject rankings assess universities in 51 academic fields, including engineering, medicine, technology, social and natural sciences, arts, humanities and others.

Thanks primarily to School of Medicine, headed by Dean, prof. prim. Anto Tonkić Ph.D., University of Split maintained its position in QS Ranking this year as well, with School of Medicine once again demonstrating its academic excellence.

Vice-Rector for Science and Quality, prof. Igor Jerković Ph.D. stressed the contribution of scientists from biomedicine to University of Split’s inclusion in QS Subject Ranking in medicine since 2022, congratulated them on their success and on keeping last year’s position, even though more institutions participated in rankings for 2023 than that of last year.

As for ranking methodology, academic programs are assessed according to five indicators effectively reflecting their performance: academic and employers’ reputation, citations, H-index and international research network (IRN).
