University of Split and RACVIAC - Centre for Security Cooperation sign Cooperation Agreement

RACVIAC Centre for Security Cooperation (in Southeastern Europe) and University of Split’s Department for Forensic Sciences are developing the five-year project "Improving security management by implementing forensic sciences at state institutions and agencies", which will result in one joint activity each year. RACVIAC has 9 member countries, 14 associate members and 6 observer countries.

As part of developing the project, Rector prof. Dragan Ljutić Ph.D. and RACVIAC’s director, Major General Jeronim Bazo and Head of University Department for Forensic Sciences, assoc. prof. Damir Piplica Ph.D., signed the Cooperation Agreement between University of Split and RACVIAC.

Rector Ljutić expressed his satisfaction with this cooperation, stressing that by signing the agreement with University of Split, RAVIAC is getting the opportunity to also cooperate with other renowned universities in the SEA-EU Alliance, eight of them in total, from France, Spain, Poland, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Malta and Norway.

Department head Piplica pointed out that RAVIAC is the study’s teaching base (university-industry cooperation) and that the cooperation between the two will be realized in courses that deal with national security and will be carried out at the department of forensics.

The project’s purpose and goals will be realized in five activities during project implementation. In this regard, topics to be covered will include aspects of forensics: firefighting, money laundering and artificial intelligence.

This project includes the possibility of an internship at RACVIAC for University of Split students, and will have a favorable effect on visibility and promotion for both sides regarding security and international cooperation in ​​Southeast Europe.
