THREE-DAY EVENT "SKILL GAPS STAFF WEEK" AT SPINIT INCUBATOR COMPLETED

Skill Gaps Staff Week, organized this week as a part of European universities of the sea (SEA-EU) project, ended with a workshop on industrial PhDs and an interesting presentation on a new doctoral program in Croatia organized at the SPINIT Incubator located in Spinut.

On this event’s first day, the results of stakeholder meetings organized at SEA-EU partner universities were presented, followed by Antonija Mršić Radas Ph.D. presenting the company Rimac cars and its path from a garage project to an internationally recognized brand. Mirna Draženović from FESB and prof. Željko Hederić Ph.D., from University of Osijek’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Information Technology, presented the Green Sailing Ship project, realized with the cooperation of experts from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture and the DIV Group.

A workshop where University’s representatives and companies from Gdańsk, Cádiz, Malta and Split discussed establishing lifelong learning programs that will keep up with employers’ needs marked Skill Gaps Staff Week’s second day. Assoc. prof. Morana Koludrović Ph.D., Head of University of Split’s Centre for Lifelong Learning, moderated the workshop. Two presentations of good practice examples followed: assoc. prof. Ante Mandić Ph.D. from University of Split’s Faculty of Economics, presented lifelong learning programs and the Living Lab concept, while PhD student Jelena Čulić Gambiroža, from Split’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, talked about her faculty’s cooperation with Ericsson Nikola Tesla.

On the event’s last day, Hrvoje Meštrić Ph.D., from Ministry of Science and Education’s Directorate for Science, gave a lecture on new industrial doctorates in Croatia. Agreements on future cooperation and visits to SEA-EU partner universities confirmed the idea on collaborating on an international Ph.D. program and new joint projects.
