The exhibition SADiS 2022, Days of Slovak Art in Split 2022 had its grand opening July 7, in the University Gallery.
It consists of works by 29 artists in a wide range of artistic techniques. Exhibition’s curator, Branislav Zurko, addressed the audience at the opening, saying that the European Union, being a unique socio-political entity affects all nations that it consists of:
- Cohesion and unity that overcomes all differences of opinion is an amazing phenomenon, particularly in times of polarized societies. Everyone who believes in the need for cooperation needs to create conditions to change national cultures in Europe. This is exactly what the SADiS project tries to do - he said.
Helena Trze Jakelić, head of the University Gallery, was really honored that our guests from Slovakia chose Split and this gallery to present their project in, its goal being to bring young and middle generation Slovak artists’ work closer to galleries in European cities.
- Since 2012, this exhibition went to big cities such as Vienna, London, Amsterdam, Vilnius and Sofia, and this year it finally reached Croatia. We hope that this cooperation will continue in the future and that we will be able to present our artists in Slovakia – she concluded and declared the exhibition open.
Among the many guests, a well-known Split’s photojournalist, Feđa Klarić, was there, who said that he always comes to the University Gallery with great joy, as it is a pleasant surprise in this part of town:
- Excellent exhibition! This is the first time I get to see works by Slovak artists and I am pleasantly surprised, especially by the upper floor where there are graphics on display. No matter how hot it is, nothing gets in the way of witnessing great art.
