State of Israel’s Ambassador to Croatia, H.E. Gary Koren, University of Split’s Rector, prof. Dragan Ljutić Ph.D., Faculty of Humanities’ Dean, prof. Gloria Vickov Ph.D. and prof. Dragan Primorac Ph.D., founder and honorary president of Croatian-Israeli Business Club, presented the new graduate study Democracy and Resilience in Modern Society, offered by Faculty of Humanities and performed in cooperation with Sapir Academic College from Israel, at a press conference and panel discussion on Thursday, January 12.

This study program is a real indicator of our University’s internationalization, and we are also collaborating in the field of Mediterranean agriculture, extremely important for us. Joint projects with the University of Haifa, which we visited half a year ago, are also being prepared. Also, Mons. Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, confirmed that he will be attending the celebration of University of Split’s Day - said Rector Ljutić.

H.E. Gary Koren, visiting University of Split for the second time since appointed ambassador, expressed his pleasure to be present when we are introducing studies of mutual interest to states of Israel and Croatia, noting that efforts will be made to bring Israeli students to study in Split.

This self-financed interdisciplinary study program in English will enable students acquiring a wide range of knowledge and, completing their studies, open door to the labor market in a range of institutions such as ministries, military and security agencies, representative offices, media houses, institutes, art galleries, NGOs, private companies and other institutions. All students who complete undergraduate studies in social, humanistic and interdisciplinary fields will be able to enroll this program - said dean Gloria Vickov, thanking all panel participants and prof. Matko Marušić for his support in realizing this study program.

Given excellent relations with the State of Israel, with his influence, Prof. Dragan Primorac significantly helped this study to come to life and become a concrete study program.

Croatia has to dream big, and that is why I am happy to be here, on this historic day, because this is how big dreams become reality – Primorac said, thanking his friend and colleague Ambassador Koren, as well as his predecessor, Ilan Mor, for his support.
