Research and Development Office - there for support and advice

Possibilities of using University of Split’s scientific research equipment

Presenting the Office for Research and Development, on September 22 in the Three-faculties-building, its head, Iva Žutić Ph.D. invited all professors and researchers to contact the Office and monitor its work in order to together create new opportunities for the University. The newly established Office provides advice and administrative support to users interested for available scientific research equipment, but also works closely with experts responsible for individual machinery.

"I believe that with this equipment we will see an increased number of scientific publications, and an increased-larger-bigger scientific impact of our University", said the Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation Prof. Leandra Vranješ Markić, PhD, drawing attention to the importance of implementing and using said equipment as part of research on all University of Split components.

Prof. Dražan Jozić Ph.D. (Faculty of Chemical Technology), prof. Ivana Bočina Ph.D. (Faculty of Science), Assoc. Prof. Zvonimir Lušić Ph.D. (Faculty of Maritime Studies) and prof. Janoš Terzic Ph.D. (School of Medicine) presented good examples of using scientific research equipment for collaboration with other scientific institutions and the local community.

"In order to use the equipment as much as possible, it is necessary to take part in projects which can provide scientists with necessary resources such as manpower, consumables, and also cooperation for innovation development," said Nikola Balić, Head of the Science and Innovation Department, inviting all who were present to contact the Office if they need support and advice. Interesting funding opportunities, such as the Venture Capital Fund for investing in technology transfer, Proof of Concept (Hamag-Bicro), but also smaller research cooperation projects in the SEA-EU Alliance should be opening soon.

Significant investments in scientific research infrastructure, totaling more than 100 million HRK, motivated the establishment of this Office, and it was planned within the project "University of Split’s Functional Integration (Faculty of Science, Faculty of Maritime Studies, Faculty of  Chemistry and Technology), developing scientific research infrastructure in the Three-faculties-building (KK.01.1.1.02.0018)”, co-financed by the European Union, from the European Regional Development Fund.
