Presented project "Developing, improving and implementing traineeships at University of Split’s School of Medicine"

Clinical practice is mandatory in the study programs Medicine and Dental Medicine at Split’s School of Medicine in and represents a necessary and mandatory experience aimed at developing and acquiring all necessary knowledge and skills for performing quality medical care, so the School decided to improve the existing program. March 2020 marked the beginning of the project "Developing, improving and implementing traineeships at the School of Medicine in Split" began, part of the operational program "Effective human resources 2014-2020", UP.03.1.1.04.0070, co-financed by the European Union from European Social Fund.

Prof. Vukojević said that the training of professors, administrative staff and students was carried out in a series of workshops during the project’s two years, and the students had the opportunity to gain international experience, for example visiting the Ivoclar Centre in Liechtenstein.

- We believe that implementing clinical training in this way will become permanent with the newly founded center, or Office for traineeships, even after the project ends in March 2023. During the implementation, there were a lot of challenges, because most activities took place in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic, but we successfully overcame them - said prof. Vukojevic.

In order to solve the problem of inadequate space and equipment, the Dental Medicine study plans to equip Academicus (University of Split’s School of Medicine’s dental polyclinic).

- Split’s School of Medicine applied for all projects part of the European Social Fund, and received funds for their implementation. At the moment, 46 projects are being implemented at the School, 16 of which are European, which we are particularly proud of - Vice Dean Vukojević concluded.
