OPENING CEREMONY OF THE HYPERREALISTS AND ISLAND PAINTERS EXHIBITION IN THE VASKO LIPOVAC UNIVERSITY GALLERY

After a short summer break, the University Gallery reopened its doors with two exhibitions in collaboration with the Brešan Gallery in Split. Along with the exhibition’s organizer Igor Brešan, Associate Professor Željko Radić Ph.D., University of Split Vice-Rector, also attended the opening.

Exhibitions Hyperrealists and Island Painters include 26 authors and are displayed on both floors of the gallery.

On the ground floor there is an exhibition of Hyperrealists, covering the period from the 1960s and the famous exhibition of Božo Bek, ending with the book "Conquistadors with a Brush" by Feđa Gavrilović. 13 authors are the following: Loara Blažević (Split), Ana Bošković Freund (Split), Jadranka Fatur (Zagreb), Vlado Jakelić (Zagreb), Ratko Janjić Jobo (Zagreb), Marijana Muljević (Zagreb), Zdravko Milić (Labin), Sanja Jureško (Rijeka), Dijana Lukić (Rijeka), Daria Lepkova (Munich/Split), Sebastijan Dračić (Zagreb), Ivica Vlašić (Livno) and Stjepan Šandrk (Zagreb).

Island Painters also offer an interesting exhibition on the first floor of the gallery, and most artists come from the island of Krk. A special feature of the exhibition is certainly Slavko Marić, who coming from Slavonski Brod, visiting Krk, stayed for the rest of his life. Island painters are: Abel Brčić (Korčula), Ante Bergam (Krapanj), Nataša Cetinić (Prigradica, Korčula), Ružica Dešković (Pučišća, Brač), Branimir Dorotić (Pražnice, Brač), Alma Dujmović (Punat, Krk), Mihovil Depope (Krk), Leila Micheli Vojvoda (Pučišća, Brač), Sandra Nejašmić (Postire, Brač), Slavko Marić (Krk), Stipe Nobilo (Lumbarda, Korčula), Matteo Mate Solis (Cres), Mirjana Zirdum (Malinska, Krk).

In front of a large audience, Assoc. prof. Željko Radić Ph.D., University of Split’s Vice-Rector made welcoming remarks.

"Let me say that the University holds the promotion of artistic creativity very important, as it is in the spirit of our strategic commitment. Main features of this Gallery’s art programs are high quality of works and variety of topics they cover," said Vice Rector Radić during the opening.

Helena Trze Jakelić, head of the Vasko Lipovac University Gallery, led the program.
