One has to sail, and MareMathics will make it easier

MareMahtics is a two-year Erasmus+ project implemented by the Faculty of Maritime Studies with partners from Gdynia (Poland), Tallinn (Estonia) and Riga (Latvia), as well as Croatian partner Toni Milun.

Overcoming pandemic barriers and adhering to all measures, 45 students and 15 professors from four European countries gathered at the Faculty of Maritime Studies to spend five days involved in activities of learning and teaching mathematics that can be applied in maritime affairs.

That is to say, mathematics teachers have been working for two years on a project that will result in innovative and interesting mathematics lessons, in the form of videos, accompanied with applications and understandable examples. During five days dedicated to learning, students had the opportunity to see the prepared materials followed by lectures and exercises their professors prepared for them. The ultimate goal of the event, however, was not assessing students and their knowledge, but professors’ success in producing better learning tools. Students grade each lecture, and based on their grades, professors will find how well they have done their jobs, and whether final form of the material needs to be changed.

Of course, in addition to precautionary measures, the week is also reserved for these young people socializing, all being organized by the Split branch of ESN (Erasmus Student Network), which took care of foreign students in extracurricular activities at Split’s Bačvice.
