New University of Split’s postgraduate specialist study – Management in Healthcare

Another interesting and attractive study program - the postgraduate specialist study Management in Healthcare, carried out by Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism, and School of Medicine - will soon be on University of Split’s offer.

The study will last for two semesters, and completing it, students will have obtained 60 ECTS credits. This study program will realize a high level of connection between theory and practical approach, representing numerous examples and ways of solving certain business situations.

Students who have completed university graduate study and obtained at least 300 ECTS credits or previous university undergraduate study, postgraduate specialist or study in a relevant academic field (natural sciences, biomedicine and health, technical sciences, biotechnical sciences, social sciences, humanities and interdisciplinary sciences) can enrol the postgraduate specialist study Management in Healthcare. Students who completed university under/graduate study outside economics have to take two additional courses, defined by the Faculty of Economics Council’s special decision.

Due to the wide scope of the study programme, the students can find employment at a number of legal entities in the health care system. This postgraduate specialist study will enable its participants to: understand the economic importance of efficient financing and spending in healthcare; apply managerial activities, ethics and socially responsible business in healthcare; use such concepts as personnel planning, recruitment, selection as well as staff development and education; critically judge and apply different models of financing health infrastructure and health services provision, etc.

The implementation of this study program was initiated by its future head, assoc. prof. Željko Mateljak Ph.D. from the Faculty of Economics in Split, who also presides the study programme’s commission.

In accordance with obtaining a permit from the Ministry of Science and Education, enrolment is planned by this year’s summer, and the classes will start in the fall (academic year 2022/2023).
