Hospitality and Gastronomy students preparing meals at Culinary workshop "Taste Croatia" within SEA-Eu alliance

"Taste Croatia" will take place on Friday, April 30, starting at 11 am in the restaurant "Adriatic" in Split, where our students of Hospitality and Gastronomy will prepare winning dishes from "Cooking experience", an event organized as part of SEA-EU Alliance, and students of Mediterranean agriculture will suggest wines that go best with every dish. For all those interested, the workshop will be broadcast online, via Zoom.

As a reminder, at this year's SEA-EU competition "Cooking experience", students of the Hospitality and Gastronomy study in Makarska won three best prizes. The first place went to the dessert called Rožata, second place to the appetizer Octopus, and the third place to the main dish Seafood Polpete (=meatballs). All three recipes will be prepared under the mentorship of prof. Vedran Poljak Ph.D., lecturer in the University of Split’s study of Hospitality and Gastronomy.

After participating in "Cooking experience", winners earned the right to participate in the demonstration culinary workshop "Taste Croatia", intended to everyone who wants to get to know Croatian gastronomy up close, and their colleagues and professors from universities in the SEA-EU Alliance, in Cadiz, Gdańsk, Brest, Kiel and Malta will follow the event online.

The workshop will be held at the restaurant Adriatic (http://www.restaurantadriatic.com/aboutus), that generously let us use its space for this event. Immersed in colors and flavors of the Mediterranean, Adriatic is top "everyday food" establishment located on the steep cliffs rising from the Adriatic Sea just a few minutes’ walk away from the busy city center. Restaurant Adriatic is a unique Mediterranean terrace stimulating all senses, because in addition to superb aromas and scents of selected fish and meat dishes, signs of creative Mediterranean cuisine, it also offers its guests a magical view through agave trees on nearby islands in Split’s archipelago and open sea.

Student teams of all six SEA-EU Alliance members took part in "Cooking experience", and in the period from April 26 to May 7, will present all 18 winning dishes from each university in categories: appetizer, main course (prepared with fish, seafood, algae or any ingredient inspired by the sea) and local dessert.

In event "Cooking experience" held at the University of Split, first place went to a group of students performing under the name ’morske vile’ Sea Fairies (Antonia Štrljić, Nina Matijašević, Mateja Dugandžić, Emi Čurković and Patricija Vidaković). Second place to students who called themselves Gavuni, smelt (Antonio Markić, Marin Jelić, Marin Josipović, Boris Vuković, Polikarp Damjanović, Teo Mravičić and Ante Buljan), and third to students performing under the name Srdelice, little sardines (Josip Štambuk, Anđela Brbić, Dina Djurovic, Lara Ivanisevic, and Lana Jukic Peladic).
