Group exhibition "Female correspondence”

The group exhibition "Female correspondence" was opened on Thursday, September 8 in the University Gallery’s intimate setting, in the company of the project’s authors, academic graphic artists Tihana Karlović and Mateja Rusak. City of Split and the Ministry of Culture and Media funded the exhibition, which was so far presented in Varaždin, Kranj and Rijeka.

The project started in January 2019 and continues in 2022. In 2019, six artists were included in the project, three from Croatia (Dora Bakek, Kristina Pongrac and Ana Salopek), one artist from Poland (Anna Trojanowska), the USA (Raluca Iancu) and Ireland (Raquel Amat).

In 2020, the following artists joined the project: Carmen Bačura Potočić (HR), Gloria Sellan (HR), Iva Gobić (HR), Maja Zemunik (HR), Maja S. Franković (HR), Svetlana Jakimovska – Rodić (SLO), Irena Kečkeš (USA), Monika Jurić (Switzerland) and in 2021 Yoshimi Teh Soo Mei (Hawaii), Jasna Šikanja (HR) and Karen Kunc (USA).

Edvin Dragičević, Academy of Arts’ dean, opened the exhibition, thanking the authors for bringing the project to Split and showing us a part of their intimacy:

- I welcome the idea to leave daily endless scrolling on your mobile phones and to return to a form that requires a different kind of concentration - dean Dragičević said.
