Formal opening of the exhibition "Architecture" by academic painter Jasmina Runje

Exhibition of paintings "Architecture" by Jasmina Runje was inaugurated on April 20, despite the epidemiological situation and in compliance with all recommended measures, in a special atmosphere of the University Gallery "Vasko Lipovac". Peculiarity of this solo exhibition is the fact that the author is exhibiting her works in her hometown for the first time.

The exhibition was presented by art history professor Anđela Boljat, who thanked all those who contributed to organizing this event and pointed out how extremely honored she felt to get the chance to introduce this exceptional artist to culture’s audience of Jasmina's hometown. Presenting the exhibition, Boljat states that this exhibition will keep you in this beautiful exhibition space, where Jasmina's latest work fits perfectly, for a long time. Exhibited mega formats, mostly diptychs, will quickly draw you in their poetic world, which is almost meditative. Paintings deal with the relationship to spaces, memories, feelings... Creating in the spirit of the time and striving for an apolitical aesthetics, Jasmina takes existing architectural parts and transfers them to the canvas, filling them with her vision and creating completely new spaces in the process. Playing with tertiary colors in a minor key, she maps familiar and abandoned spaces with azure brush strokes and breathes new life into them (Sleepers’ Bunker, Siberian Vector…). Boljat ended her presentation by quoting prof. Ante Kajinić, who wrote in the catalog’s foreword “(…) that the artist makes art in which the search for meaning is not and cannot ever be a failure."

The author herself addressed the visitors and pointed out that she has been fascinated by imaginary in-between for some time now - spaces in which we, as well as our subconscious, dwell. These are actually spaces where we seem to have already been. From all of that arose the need to study existing architectural achievements, admiration they provoke as well as their creators, some more. That is how the paintings "Murmansk Bridge", "Siberian Vector", "Notre Dame du Haut" and others were created. The author thanked all those present and opened the exhibition for visitors.

It will remain open until May 10.
