Exhibition "Curiosity Cabinet" by academic painter Ana Marija Botteri opened at the University Gallery

In the presence of the author, Ana Maria Botteri, on Tuesday, November 9, the exhibition CURIOSITY CABINET was officially opened in the University Gallery. After a two-year break from exhibiting in her hometown, with this exhibition she brought her art world to the Gallery. Her imaginary studio and room including the curiosity cabinet is full of painted objects she has been collecting over the years, making up an impressive number of two hundred exhibits.

The curator said that the exhibition includes her earlier works on canvas, practically pushed into the background, as inventory of sorts, a part of her imaginary studio and room space. The foreground, naturally, consists of small paintings and drawings she made over the last two years on cardboard and small boxes belonging to various items, organically arranged on the wall, forming an impressive relief piece. Seen up close, they are images in their own right, but seen from afar, they are parts of something bigger than just presenting the work process.

The exhibition, organized by the University of Split, was realized with the support of the City of Split and Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media, and will remain open until November 25, 2021.
