About prof. Peručić’s donation to the University Library’s Music Collection:

(…) first donation of one musician’s collected sheet music to the University Library, arrived in 2014 at the request of prof. Peručić, thanks to his daughter Mrs. Dubravka Milanović and his colleague and friend maestro Vladimir Lukas. Printed and, in a small part, copied donated sheet music contains about 500 units created between 1926 and 2002. Archival and manuscript material, as well as copies of published articles fit into two archive boxes. Librarians Abra Papić and Mihaela Kovačić processed the donation.

Author of the exhibition, guitar teacher Ivanka Prusac wrote in the catalog:

(…) With this exhibition, I tried to shed some light on his work as a music pedagogue, writer of music notations and instrument builder in a special way. Leafing through scores from all over the world, manuscript materials caught my eye. I felt like I had found a long-lost treasure. It contained professor's arrangements for two guitars, guitar and voice, transcribed tabs and entire scores of classical guitar evergreens from when there were no photocopying machines and printed editions were hard to come by. He collaborated with musicians who mostly dedicated themselves to preserving the heritage of a-cappella singing and prepared their music notes for printing, and some of them were Eduard Tudor, Nikola Buble, Mojmir Čačija and Ljubo Stipišić - Delmata. He often went on tours abroad a-cappella singing with groups from Dalmatia and that is how he procured guitar literature.

About prof. Mario Peručić (Smokvica, Korčula 1938 - Split 2013)

Educated as construction technician, after the Josip Hatze Music School in Split introduced guitar lessons, in 1965, Mario Peručić became a guitar teacher with a fixed-term contract there. He finished six grades of elementary music school in 1969 in Zadar, led by prof. Stanko Prek, and graduated from the Music High School in Maribor in 1975. His students achieve notable results at national and federal competitions, and many of them continue their guitar studies at the Music Academy in Zagreb.

He was also a skilled builder of musical instruments. Educated in technology, he also had interests apart from music: he practiced photography, astronomy, drilled lens and constructed glass.

This exhibition remains open until June 30, 2022.
