Delegation from Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism visiting Faculty of Maritime Studies

The delegation of Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Maritime Department, consisting of Norito Kawakami, Takashi Yoshida, Junichiro Tomita, together with the Japan’s Maritime Centre representative, Setsuo Nomura, and representative of the Japanese Ship-owners Association, Hiroshi Fujimura, visited the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Split. The reason for the visit is the recertification of this higher education institution by the Ministry of Japan, which would continue the practice that students of the Faculty of Maritime Studies students do not need additional certificates for navigating ships under Japan’s flag.

Prof. Dragan Ljutić Ph.D., University of Split Rector, welcomed the delegation from Japan, introducing them to the European University of the Seas Alliance (SEA-EU), as well as its importance for the Faculty and entire University; while prof. Pero Vidan Ph.D., Faculty of Maritime Studies’ dean, greeted their guests, pointing out that many changes have taken place for the better, at the Faculty since the last reaccreditation, notably, relocation to a new building on Campus and new valuable scientific and teaching equipment.

Along with Dean Vidan, prof. Merica Slišković, Ph.D.  vice dean for science, assistant professor Marko Katalinić Ph.D., vice dean for development and international cooperation, heads of institutes and studies prof. Nikola Račić Ph.D., assoc. prof. Zaloa Sanchez Varela Ph.D., assist. Prof. Zdeslav Jurić Ph.D., assoc. prof. Maja Krčum Ph.D. also attended the meeting with Japan’s delegation, as well as Japan’s honorary consul in Split, Ivan Vodopivec, with associates.

After the meeting’s introductory part in the Faculty hall, the delegation from Japan saw the building, or laboratories and classrooms, and they took a moment to inspect the valuable scientific equipment.
