Croatian Military Academy "Dr. Franjo Tuđman”’s Department of Naval Operations was awarded the ISO 9001: 2015 certificate and given valuable literature for Military Navy Studies

In the Croatian Military Academy "Dr. Franjo Tuđman" in Split’s library, on September 20, 2021, the ISO 9001: 2015 certificate was presented to Department of Naval Operations.

The Department of Naval Operations is the first Croatian Armed Forces organizational unit that has successfully implemented the Quality Management System in accordance with the international standard ISO 9001: 2015. On behalf of the Department, Colonel General Mate Pađen, Commander in the Military Academy, received the certificate. It was presented by Željko Pehar, representative of the certification body Bureau Veritas, who also expressed his satisfaction with participating in this process and stressed that obtaining the certificate is not the end, but the beginning of work on continuous quality improvement. On that occasion, Colonel General Pađen thanked all those involved in the process of obtaining the certificate and emphasized that this confirms high quality of processes carried out in the Croatian Military Academy’s study programs. The certificate is crucial for the InteRiv project because it confirms international quality.

The certificate’s scope includes higher education and training, scientific and professional work, developing military science, training and publishing for the education of seafarers and related professions. Department of Naval Operations takes part in implementing education and training of cadets in the integrated undergraduate and graduate (university) Military Naval Studies, intended for educating and training future Croatian Armed Forces naval officers, as well as in implementing training at successive levels of education at the Croatian Defense Academy "Dr. Franjo Tuđman".

This certificate only confirms high level of quality in implementing processes at the Croatian Military Academy, and the Department will proudly use the Bureau Veritas’ mark and emphasize how valuable the certificate is.

University of Split or its representative, prof. Leandra Vranješ Markić Ph.D., Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, joined the ceremony of awarding the certificate, relating to the project "Internationalization of Marine Fisheries and Military Naval Studies at the University of Split" (InteRiV) which is developing Naval Studies in English.

The entire project is valued at HRK 1,750,274.03, of which 597,654.11 is allocated to developing naval studies. In this way, the study received a part of teaching materials, acquired through the project, for conducting classes in the Lora base’s library. These are 28 books in English, purchased in two copies, worth HRK 32,361.00. The total value of literature to be acquired through the project is HRK 61,898.00 and includes two copies of 44 titles.
