University of Split’s award ceremony for Science in 2021 was held on March 24 in University of Split’s Hall "Don Frane Bulić". It was attended by University Split Rector, prof. Dragan Ljutić Ph.D., vice-rectors, prof. Leandra Vranješ Markić Ph.D., Tomislav Kilić Ph.D., Đurđica Miletić Ph.D. and prof. Željko Radić Ph.D., Head of Rector's Office, Ivana Pletković, Head of Split-Dalmatia County’s Administration for Education, Culture, Technical Culture and Sports, Tomislav Đonlić, Split-Dalmatia County Prefect Blaženko Boban’s Envoy, Head of City of Split’s Office, Marina Protić, Envoy to, Ivica Puljak, Split’s Mayor, members of the academic community and other distinguished guests.
Award are given to most productive scientists whose work significantly contributed to our University’s renown in terms of scientific excellence.
In his speech, Rector Ljutić thanked awarded scientists, emphasizing that they greatly contributed to University of Split’s recognition.
- To pursue science and publish papers in world journals from Split is a great deal and that is our strength. We show others the direction to follow because it is not necessary to live in a world metropolis to create top science, quality of work is what is important, and is at an enviable level in our city - he said.
On behalf of all winners, prof. Matko Erceg Ph.D. from the Faculty of Chemistry and Technology said his thanks.
- This is an exceptional and important day for us who receive awards for scientific work from our University. This award means a lot to all of us. There will surely be, or there have already been, more awards in our careers, but to receive one from your University and your colleagues is something special.
We thank University of Split for everything it is doing to improve the scientific and research structure, for financing our projects, for integrating components and staff, or creating a positive environment for development of scientific activity – he said.
In the musical part of the program, the award-winning guitarist Silvio Bilić, Academy of Arts in Split’s student, from the class of prof. Maroje Brčić performed.
