Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković visited the University of Split

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, together with Minister of Science and Education, prof. Radovan Fuchs Ph.D., visited the University of Split on Tuesday, February 16. He was accompanied by Vice President Ante Sanader and members of Croatian Parliament Branko Bačić and Ante Bačić, as well as Damir Krstičević, Special Adviser for Defense. They were welcomed by prof. Dragan Ljutić Ph.D., University of Split Rector, vice-rectors prof. Đurđica Miletić Ph.D., prof. Leandra Vranješ Markić Ph.D., prof. Goran Kardum Ph.D., prof. Tomislav Kilić Ph.D. and prof. Željko Radić Ph.D., Filip Klarić-Kukuz, University’s Secretary General, Ivana Pletković, Head of Rector's Office, Jelena Hrga, Head of the Department of Financial Operations and Accounting, Ivan Žižić, Director of the Student Center, and Marijan Bašić, Coordinator of Infrastructure Projects at the University. Split-Dalmatia County Prefect Blaženko Boban and Split Mayor Andro Krstulović Opara also attended the meeting.

They talked about this last period in which the University of Split achieved significant results, as well as future projects. The University of Split is part of the European Universities Initiative, where as a member of the European Universities of the Sea Alliance has a special role in digitizing numerous processes. Special mention was given to study programs, those recently launched such as the study of Mediterranean Agriculture in Sinj and that of Hospitality and Gastronomy in Makarska, as well as new studies, Psychology taught in English and Journalism and Communication. They also discussed investments in the University of Split infrastructure, mainly through EU funding, like the construction of a new student dormitory on Campus, for which project documentation is being prepared. The new dormitory would have around 600 beds, which would be an increase of almost 50 percent compared to the current capacity of student accommodation in the Student Centre. Also on Campus, there are plans for new buildings for university departments and study divisions of the University of Split.
