Cooperation agreement signed between the University of Split and the Humboldt University of Berlin

A Cooperation Agreement was signed between University of Split and Humboldt University of Berlin, that is between Berlin University’s Cluster of Excellence, "Matters of Activity" (MoA), and our STIM Scientific Center of Excellence. At University of Split’s Rectorate, the Agreement was signed on Tuesday, July 11, by rector, prof. Dragan Ljutić Ph.D., prof. Vlasta Bonačić-Koutecký Ph.D., head of the project STIM REI and STIM Centre of Excellence, and prof. Wolfgang Schäffner Ph.D., Director of MoA.

Signing of this agreement took place within the framework of international scientific conference focused on the already existing extensive cooperation between the Berlin Cluster of Excellence and Split’s STIM Centre of Excellence.

Rector Ljutić emphasized the importance of today's signing of the Agreement, or cooperation between Split’s and Berlin’s centers of excellence, especially considering their interdisciplinary nature. He called the signing a historic moment of connecting University of Split s with one of best world universities.

Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Prof. Zoran Đogaš Ph.D. expressed satisfaction with formalizing cooperation with Humboldt University, presenting some future plans, for example, young scientists, doctoral students and postdocs will be able to participate in the "Falling walls" competition, in which they will give short presentations of their scientific research work, and winners will get to participate in the Berlin finals.

Head of STIM Centre of Excellence, also professor at Humboldt University, Vlasta Bonačić-Koutecky, admitted that it was great honor for her to join these two important higher education institutions in MoA Cluster of Excellence and the STIM Centre. She emphasized the interdisciplinary nature of the Berlin Cluster, because connecting natural sciences to humanities is important for the development of young researchers.

Wolfgang Schäffner, MoA Centre’s director, said that universities of Split and Berlin are close in terms of interdisciplinarity, describing efforts to establish a place of cooperation at Humboldt University where colleagues from different disciplines would work together, which is also the goal of cooperation with STIM Centre of Excellence. He expressed his satisfaction with the signing of Agreement, emphasizing the great role Professor Bonačić-Koutecky, head of project and the STIM Centre, played in all this.
